Four shops in Westgate Street up for auction for more than £1.45million

H Samuels, Cards Direct, Claire’s Accessories and one other empty shop are set to go under the hammer for £1.45m on Wednesday, July 30.

The building is situated at the heart of Ipswich town centre in Westgate Street, close to the Cornhill and Ipswich Town Hall.

They are described by the auctioneers, Savills Auctions, as an “attractive opportunity” with the four shops all part of the same freehold.

Savills said that that the rent income from the property is £142,500 per year, but this may increase.

There is no indication that the current tenants would be forced to leave in the event of a sale.

According to the advertisement, ongoing discussions are taking place to find an occupier for one of the vacant shops, which was formerly home to Holland & Barrett.

The auction of the building comes as the long vacant Grimwades building next door opened as Jamaica Blue, after being acquired by Ipswich Borough Council earlier in the year.
